15 Outstanding Contribution to the Industry

The exceptional recent growth and increasing maturity of the data centre industry has created the need to recognise those people who have helped shape the industry of today and lead it towards the industry of tomorrow. The previous winners of this Award – Peter Gross, managing partner at HP’s Carbon, Power and Critical Facilities Services, last year; IBM Fellow and NAE Member Dr Roger R. Schmidt in 2009; Uptime Institute founder Ken Brill in 2008; and Don Beaty (ASHRAE/DLB Associates) in 2007 - are all individuals distinguished by extensive service to the data centre industry through publication, education, developing innovation and active involvement with data centre operations on a global level. We are looking to continue our recognition of industry leadership and to reward innovation that has influenced the mainstream of data centre practice, whether it be in design, thought leadership, management, operational strategy, engineering development and application or a combination of these. Who do you think should follow Peter, Roger, Ken and Don? The data centre sector has achieved a size and scope that means it is time to continue the recognition of our own leaders and their achievements.
